Jennifer will be focussing her efforts on developing the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery Masterplan, West Vancouver Safety Building Developments, and Clayton Heights Secondary School Campus. Welcome Jennifer!
Also joining our team in the month of November is Mr. Eric Galt EIT. Eric is a civil engineer in training and has ample experience in design, and construction administration of commercial and residential clients. Eric will be joining our civil team and providing support on the Aldergrove Recreation Centre, Calgary Skateparks, and 17th & Yukon neighbourhood park. Welcome Eric!
VDZ is happy to announce two new additions to our capable team of Landscape architects, designers, and civil staff. This past month Ms. Phoenix Chan joined us from her previous posting at Ekistics, Toronto. Phoenix has worked in southern China, Halifax, and Toronto. Here areas of expertise are large-scale planning, Site-specific design, and advanced graphics.
Also this month, Ms. Milana Malesovich will be joining us from Hamilton, Ontario. Milana has worked in private practise in Southern Ontario, and most recently as the Design Head for a large design-build landscape construction firm. Milana has experience in commercial planning & design, civic plazas, and large-scale residential design and construction.
We are very pleased to have these two designers join our firm - part of our commitment to diversification of skill sets, and expertise for our clients. Having Milana and Phoenix bolster our current staff will be an asset for what appears to be a very busy Fall/Winter Design season.
VDZ's newest adventure playground has been reviewed by the Vancouver Sun and a select group of children. The results are in and a 4.5 star out of 5 rating was delivered! Lions park play area has been improved even more since the article surfaced on June 27th. The Lions park adventure playground has been completed with a new splashpark adjacent.
According to Ron Myers - Parks Design Manager, the park has been a huge success with lots of children and families enjoying the expansive, and accessible play elements. Children will be challenged to explore the bamboo 'forest', climb the 'mountain', and attack the hill slide.
If you're out in Port Coquitlam - bring a blanket, lunch, bathing suit and plan on staying all afternoon!
VDZ+A is pleased to be selected as the city of North Vancouver's consultant for the planning and conceptual design phase of the ATF upgrades for Mahon Park. Working with stakeholders and city representatives, VDZ staff will be consulting with the public on traffic issues, park amenity concerns, pedestrian safety, accessibility, and field user experience. Open houses for direct communication with the public start in early May.
VDZ has issued our first two construction bids of the year. Lake Whonnock Resort - Maple Ridge BC : a redevelopment of beachfront park amenities along with parking improvements. and Lions Park Water Spot: a new waterpark associated with the adventure play environment constructed in Fall/Winter 2014-15.
These projects are significant improvements to their respective parks and are highly anticipated by both city staff and residents alike. VDZ has worked hard to get these projects ready for tender through winter/spring 2015, so that residents can enjoy the outcome this summer!
